Lawn Fawn's Ugly And Bright Card Series- Shaker Ornament/Card- Crescent Creations DT- Holiday Wishes

Oh I just love how this one turned out.  We all know how much time and effort goes into cardmaking if you've done it before and to be able to turn it into a keepsake for years to come just makes it all a bit sweeter.  I'm excited to get this one in the mail early this year...I know very rare for me to beat the holiday.

I included the Ohuhu colors in 320 Fine Nib/ 200 Fine Nib/ 72 or pastel Brush Nib when available. I used my color swatches to match those colors to my Copics that I have on hand.  Those are my best matches so make sure to check the blends before you fully commit. Keep in mind that you don't need the full list of colors and could totally get away with a single marker and using layers to add extra color where you want the shadows.
Brown (Deer Body) E342/92, E460, E557/102/BR1, E763/103/BR2
(Copic Equivalents- E49, E77, E47 or E59, E15 or E37)
Light Brown (Deer Face) E286, E293/130
(Copic Equivalents-E21, E51
Red- R865/15/R8, R687/14/R2, R393/16/R1
Green- G345/43/GY43, G483/47/GY2, G289/48/GY4
Blue- B883/63/PB8, B289/67/BP7

( Hot tip for Ohuhu marker users- print out the color charts for the markers you have and the other 320 set and you can name match for the most part to get the same color with the sets you have.  It's how I've matched mine. Just keep in mind it might not be 100% right.)

Getting a New Look with Old Die-cuts

Let's be honest, we can't afford or store every new crafty thing that comes out.  I try to make purchases that I'm going to get more bang with for my buck.  Things like stand alone dies that I can use for more than a few cards or occasions are always a plus.  But do we need all the new things, if we can shop our personal stash to get a similar look?

I love finding more uses for what I have. I'm all about recycling...Reducing the bill at the craft store and Reusing what I already have to.  I shop my stash for card ideas I see with die-cuts all the time.  And I always feel excited when I don't have to wait to try something because I don't have a particular set.  I was totally inspired by all the new cards everyone is sharing in Lawn Fawnatics with LF's new Strawberry Patch stand alone dies.  But I can't get everything, and when I remembered the strawberry die from LF's Build a Cupcake set....Eureka! I can figure it out with what I have on hand.

I love how this one turned out.  And those berry tops on the letters are so Strawberry Shortcake-esque, I will be doing that again for sure.  I can smell that Strawberry doll from the 80s from here.
Shopped from my stash... Strawberry from Build-A-Cupcake LF, Fruit Basket, Flower, and "Vine" from LF Build-A-Basket, and the leaf is from LF Stitched Pumpkin Outline.

No Line Watercoloring a Scene with 2 Completed Cards Using Lawn Fawn's You Goat This

We all have a skill we want to master. I have always loved the look of no line watercolor, so I did my first one about a year ago with Zig's. It was far from perfect, but I loved the look. I can't say I've practiced it much and this is my first try with Distress Ink and Ink on 3. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to watercolor. I picked up watercolor in my teens and loved the look, but those were hand drawn and then painted photo renderings. I still have them here somewhere. But that was a lot of years ago.

I fell in love with the sentiment from Colorado Craft Company...maybe it's a strange baby sentiment. But I think when I first got a glimpse of our son on that Ultrasound after our first one miscarried and I just knew this one was gonna be okay. He was the one that was the one...the one that healed my broken heart and salved over that wound in my soul. I think it evokes that feeling like no other sentiment could. So I love it and that's all that matters. Plus wouldn't that be an amazing sentiment for an adoption?!

So if you like listening to me butcher voice overs....they make me almost as nervous as speaking in front of class back in high school...shutters...have a watch. If my voice overs bug you as much as they bug me just turn the volume to mute and find some music to listen to. LOL.

Products used... Lawn Fawn You Goat this Stamp Set Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Dies Distress Reinkers- Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Stormy Sky, Spun Sugar, Forest Moss Distress Ink Cube- Lucky Clover Paint Brushes- Various sizes and brands (nothing too expensive) Canson XL Watercolor Paper Sentiment stamps from... How to Create Your Own Light Up Card

I've had a few questions on how I do my light up cards, so I figured I'd so a video tutorial. They really aren't that hard and once you get the hang of them they are quite fun to make. Again, my voice over is probably as awkward as I feel doing it. 😅 So forgive my rambling ways.

These run a bit more than when I purchased my original supplies in 2020, but they still aren't over a dollar a card in the end. The batteries are the most expensive and depending on the number you go with you can get them at around 20-30 cents a piece. The LED's are around 5 cents or so a piece and the copper tape will last for many many paper circuits. So initial supplies will run a bit, but overall if you love doing light up cards this is the most bang for your buck.

Supplies Used:

Lawn Fawn Fortune Teller Tabby, Mice from various Lawn Fawn sets.

Stencil is from an assortment I picked up a long time ago...sorry.

Stencil paste is purple glitter paste from Brutus Monroe

Inks: Distress Prize Ribbon, Aged Mahogany, Lawn Fawn Jet Black, VersaMark watermark, and Staz-on Black

Copper tape, Button style LED, Wired LED, and CR2032 batteries- Amazon (These should be linked below...if it worked.)

Keep getting inky,
Jaime
