Inky and Scrappy's Let's Start Stamping Series, Basic Supplies

I thought it was time to get back to some basics. I've been making cards since I was in grade school. I still remember the first rubber stamp I bought...it was a wood mount red rubber stamp of a bear floating holding onto 3 balloons. I was under 10 and thought cool I can make my own stickers. I've learned a lot over all those years, made a ton of mistakes, wasted money on things that were flops, found better ways to do things, and watched the stamping/papercrafting industry grow and evolve, ebb and flow.

As I've been helping my sister-in-law dip her toes into the stamping and card making hobby, there's a lot of options and as she starts out it can be very intimidating with what inks work for what and other things, so I'll try to include all those things as we go along. Please if you have questions ask in the comments below. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Here are some of the basics for starting...(I'll include links (affiliate when I can- it's at no cost to you and helps me to bring you free content.)) Stamps (well obviously)- start with some basic sentiment stamps if you don't love your handwriting and look for images that you love. I try to stick with brands that play well together over their stamp sets...i.e. Lawn Fawn, MFT (per individual designer ), the list is endless-but those are my faves or multipurpose mixed media sets. Stamp Platform- Paper Cutter/scorer- Inks for actual stamping-Hero Arts Intense Black Ink or Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink Inks for techniques- look for kits or 4 packs in Rainbow colors. ( The kit I was talking about--DIstress Starter Kit ) Coloring Medium- Colored Pencils, watercolor, alcohol markers I love my Ohuhus Blending Brushes- Blending Foams- Paper- Bristol Smooth- Accent Opaque for card bases- Color Cardstock- Get a rainbow stack to start and go from there...Here's a good option Pattern paper- Look for colors and patterns you like and that will work with the stamps you have/want. Glue- Glitter Art Glue is my favorite with lots of different options on Amazon... look for what you want bottle size and or refillable. Double sided tape (it's a nice have, but not a must)- Scrapbookdotcom often has it on sale! Stencil Masks- Michael's Set is $3! Extra Sparkly things- Glitter Glue Stardust Stickles is a favorite of mine and Windsor & Newton Iridescent Medium is great for sparkly spatter. Not needed, but definitely great tools to think about- Die-Cut Machine Big Shot at Michael's watch for 40-50% off coupons! Die-Cut basic shapes- Trinity Stamps Modern Embossed Stack or watch My Favorite Things for Sales on their Basic Die-cut Shapes if you like the stitched look. Brother Scan N Cut- Reverse Tweezers - Jewel Picker - Foam Adhesive- (I linked to Scrapbookdotcom...I love their variety and you can usually pick up their branded product line on sale. Amazon has some great options too.) Thanks for watching and Keep getting Inky, Jaime Affiliate Links- Shopping these links helps the channel out and is no extra cost to you!
